About Me:

A Caldwell Dominican, I began my professional career as an elementary school teacher and later, as a high school guidance counselor before moving to ministry as the Director of Counseling Services in two institutions of higher education.  In 1997, I returned to Caldwell College to coordinate the (then) new MA Program in Counseling Psychology.

I also maintain a small private practice in psychotherapy and serve as a representative of The Catholic International Education Office (OIEC), a non-governmental organization (NGO) at the United Nations.  In 2001, I had the opportunity to travel with 10 Dominicans to Iraq, and was touched by the generous reception we received from the Iraqi people.

In the summers, to renew myself,  I typically travel to Italy to visit family.  Upon my return, I tend a radiant flower garden -- what a spiritual experience!  And I'm a seed saver, at season's end, sharing the seeds with friends for their future gardens.

Counseling Psychology Graduate Programs at Caldwell:

Aiming for a holistic approach to counseling, a unique feature of the Caldwell program is its inclusion  of spirituality throughout.  Since spirituality is a powerful force in the lives of many -- Clients and Counselors alike -- in difficult times and times of celebration, the Caldwell graduate is prepared to draw upon this resource as they practice their profession.   The Master's degree in Counseling Psychology is offered with three areas of specialization:

1.  The MA Program with a Specialization in Mental Health Counseling at Caldwell is  a 60-credit program which prepares students to enter the counseling profession and function in a variety of settings.  This program fulfills all of the educational requirements for Licensing (LPC).

2.  Persons who have achieved a Master's degree in counseling may apply for the Post-Master's Program to complete the academic coursework for the credential of Licensed Professional Counselor in NJ.

3.  MA Program with a Specialization in Art Therapy.  The MA in Counseling Psychology with a Specialization in Art Therapy is the only such program in NJ.  It consists of 60 credits and is accredited by the American Art Therapy Association (AATA).

4.  MA Program with a Specialization in School Counseling.  Accepted students may prepare for counseling careers in school settings, either by pursuing the Masters or Post-Masters credits to qualify for the credential, NJ School Counselor.

5.  Persons who have achieved a Master's degree may apply to the Post-Master's School Counseling Program in order to complete the academic requirements for the credential, School Counselor.  The college will submit the application materials to the Licensing Office for those who complete the school counseling programs at Caldwell.

6.  Director of School Counseling is our newest Counseling Program -- for individuals who have had three years' successful experience as a licensed school counselor.  The program consists of 12 credits.
