Exam 1 Possible Essay Questions:
1. What do we mean by the term "validity." What two major types of validity are important? What do they tell us about particular research findings? What are threats to validity and how do we control for them? What do "control" and "confound" mean? (Make sure that you address issues pertaining to single-subject research where relevant.)

2. Compare and contrast the following dimensions of measurement: rate, frequency, percent correct, trials to criterion, cumulative record, magnitude, and topography. Give an example of each.

3. What is a functional relationship? What are IV and DV? How is a functional relationship identified using single-subject research?

Exam 2 Possible Essay Questions:

These will involve assessing different S-S designs while describing what confounds they control for, how they allow us to infer a functional relationship, and why one design is more appropriate than another and why. You will be given examples on the exam.

FINAL EXAM Possible Essay Questions:

These will involve assessing different S-S designs while describing what confounds they control for, how they allow us to infer a functional relationship, and why one design is more appropriate than another and why. You will be given examples on the exam SIMILAR TO THOSE FROM EXAM 2. The difference of course is that you will be getting alternating treatments and/or changing criterion designs for these essays.
