Education Instructional Design I ( 4 credits) Ed 448 
Pre-requisite: 
Ed 448 is a prerequisite for Ed 449
Objectives:
A. The student will examine and expand beliefs as an influence on his/her perception of students, learning, teaching, and schooling.
B. The student will know and use several important components for planning lessons, including the N.J. Core Content standards and Frameworks The student will also formulate objectives for the design and presentation of lessons.
C. The student will learn about several parameters of teaching and learning that influence student behavior. Included among these will be: attention, momentum, principles of learning, and use of time, space, and routines to manage the classroom.
D. The student will use technology to research, prepare and present lessons, including the Internet, Power Point, CD Rom programs, e mail, and video.
E. The student will observe and work directly with children in 60 hours of field experience to apply and study these parameters of good teaching by their presence or absence.
F. The student will learn to reflect on the process of teaching and learning in a small learning community. 
Methods of Conducting Class: 
1. Class discussion, interaction, and reflection in writing and in small learning communities.
2. Field-based classroom observation as a basis for reflection on the  application of teaching skills.
3. Presentation and analysis of videotaped lesson.
4. Modeling and research of material for lesson design
5. Reporting on Field Experience observations
Methods of Student Evaluation:
1.  Reflections(5)( 30%): Due dates- 2/3;2/12;3/12;4/7;5/12
2. Lesson Plan and Videotaped lesson(1)  (35%): Due dates-Lesson Plan/Rubric-2/24; Video4/14
3. Field experience --- Completion of Field Booklet and Assigned Task 1(1a); Cooperating   teacher report/Field Supervisor's Grade.(20%): Due date-4/28
