ED 448 --- Instructional Design I cont'd
Course requirements/Expectations for Students A. Textbook: The basic text for this course ---The skillful teacher--- presents 17 parameters of teaching skills expressed in behavioral terms. Approximately one-half of these parameters will be addressed in Part I of the course. Knowledge of these specific behaviors and practice in matching them in classroom situations based upon students' needs forms an effective basis for teaching and learning. Discussion of the text in class and application of its content to situations observed or described and, in related assignments and quizzes, will be taken as evidence of students' learning. Class participation is expected to be knowledgeable, reflecting the completion of assigned readings and their application to class discussion and observations. Class presentations by the student will serve to demonstrate their real understanding of the readings. They will supplement and complement the assignments. There will be opportunities for active participation for students based on assignments. One has truly learned something, when one can teach it to someone else. Knowledgeable and overt class participation will be an integral part of your grade. (Class participation --- 10 points)
