| Ed 673 is a prerequisite for Ed 676-677(Problem-based Externships) | |||||||
| Objectives: | |||||||
| 1. Students will understand the Case method of study and learning | |||||||
| 2. Students will acquire and apply several decision-making models to case studies. | |||||||
| 3. Students will become acquainted with the six(6) ISLLC standards for school administrators. | |||||||
| 4.Students will comprehend and apply ethical principles to the resolution of problems in educational administration and supervision. | |||||||
| 5. Students will become conversant with the statute governing ethical behavior for practicing administrators and board members in New Jersey. | |||||||
| 6. Students will understand and apply problem-based learning, and contrast its tenets with the case method. | |||||||
| 7. Students will gain some experience with ethnographic research. | |||||||
| 8. Students will develop the necessary experiences to benefit from their extern courses which will engage them further in problem-based learning. | |||||||
| Methods of Conducting Class: | |||||||
| 1. Introduction and application of theories and models of decision-making. | |||||||
| 2. Analysis of issues presented in text readings, cases, and problems | |||||||
| 3. Application of legal and ethical principles to the decision-making process for the resolution of cases. | |||||||
| 4. Simulation by decision-making groups engaged in case analysis. | |||||||
| 5. Written responses to case presentations in the form of memoranda. | |||||||
| 6. Analysis and presentation of problem-based learning for simulation. | |||||||
| Methods of Student Evaluation: | |||||||
| 1. Contribution to Case Analysis using theoretical/ethical and standards-bases during class discussions(10%) | |||||||
| 2. Written case analyses prescribing action in response to case studies.(30%) | |||||||
| 3. Written case study resulting from ethnographic interview(s) (20%) | |||||||
| 4. Presentation of results of problem-based learning situation.(30%) | |||||||
