Check-out. Attendance required – 5 point deduction from final grade for absence. |
Payment for broken glassware and/or equipment is due no later than May 12, 2008.
Cuts: No cuts will be permitted. Only severe illness verified by a medical professional’s note or extreme personal difficulty verified by appropriate documentation will justify absence from a lab session. At the instructor’s discretion, a lab session missed for these reasons can be made up, or the grade normalized.
An unexcused absence
will result in the loss of eight (8) points from the final grade.
Standards of Student
Evaluation:
Each lab experiment is of equal weight. Lab reports are due at the beginning of the lab session following the scheduled conclusion of the experiment. Lateness will be penalized as follows: 10 points for each week the report is late and proportional loss of credit for each part of a week that the report is late. Failure to hand in a report will result in a grade based on the instructor’s memory of her visual observation of lab performance and will not exceed a grade of 50 (highest grade is 100).
Any student who has a documented disability and is in need of academic accommodation must contact the Office of Disability Services (973-618-3645) and notify the professor of this course. Students are required to provide written documentation of their disability in order to be eligible for accommodation. Accommodations are individualized and in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the American with Disabilities Act of 1992.
There is no test or final exam in the course. A cut results in the loss of 9 points from the final grade.
Academic Integrity
Policy
I will strictly enforce the Caldwell College Academic Integrity Policy as published in the Caldwell College Undergraduate Catalog. The specific policies for this course are summarized as follows:
Fabricating; Inventing data or other information to reach the desired conclusion of an experiment will result in a zero (0) for that experiment for a first offense. A second such offense will result in an FX for the course.
Cheating; Submitting as one’s own work, raw data or computed data or information obtained in whole or in part by another, unless Dr. Armstrong specifically authorizes it, will result in a zero (0) for that experiment for all students involved if it is a first offense. A repeat offense will result in an FX for the course.
All offenses will be reported to the Vice President and Dean for Academic Affairs. Offenses are cumulative within the College. The College reserves the right to impose more severe penalties.
