Although I grew up and lived in Germany I was still very much impressed with this trip and how much time and effort Dr. O'Rourke must have put into it since everything ran so smoothly! Wish many other students had been able to take advantage of it. The opportunities to learn about Europe were enormous. In addition, the trip to the Institute of the European Commission gave us a great insight on how the European Union is run right now in addition to a glimpse of the future of Europe. What a great experience which no student should miss especially if they are majoring in International Business! Mere words just can't express what I have learned.
Ann Howard, Class of 2001
Although the this course demanded a lot of up front reading, a large paper due before we left and another due shortly after we arrived home, I felt it was well worth the effort. Every day was filled with learning opportunities. The is nothing like living within a culture to see how it functions; you see their TV shows, read their newspapers, talk to shopkeepers and people on the street and more. This course has given me a much better understanding of Europeans, how they relate to Americans (and why), the differences between our cultures that tend to divide us but much more importantly the similarities that bring us all together. This was a well planned course and I believe most students would profit from at least one international learning experience as part of their college education.

Dr. Noone and Prof. O'Rourke. They kept us on time and made sure we got the most out of our days (and nights). Thanks from all of us ! |
